Doesn't really cost that much, some electro mechanical relays...plus the lights are not on for very long...low duty cycle... You can use one of those X-10 units to do the same thing...

while watching that I half expected the finally(sp... you know what I mean if it's wrong) to be the house bursting into flames. Now I'm considering making a giant LED board on my garage door that flashes "Merry Fucking Christmas". Hell, if I spend enough time to do that I might as well go all the way and make it a scrolling board so it would be easier to change the message for any other holidays

Well you may find it boring, but I do this shit for work... I have the means to readily and easily achieve the same thing. Although, I find the "flailing arm of death" robotic arm I built as my final project in college to be a bit more interesting...
