IE7 Search Box in Tool Bar

For those that have downloaded and installed Microsoft's Internet Explorer 7, this tuturial will show you how to change the default search engine that it comes with that is built into the toolbar automatically.

Of course I'm going to show you how to install MortysWeb.com search engine since it helps support MTW and we all know we need to help support it! More info about MortysWeb.com and how it supports MTW can be found here.

Step 1 - Make sure you've installed and are running Internet Explorer 7


Step 2- As you see in the picture above, in the top right corner of your IE7 there is a search engine box. By default, its Google. Click the little down arrow that is next to the magnifying glass. And the drop down list should appear. Click on FIND MORE PROVIDERS


Step 3 - The new page should of loaded and you will see the yellow form box that is circled in red in the picture above. It has instructions, and basically what its asking is for you to go to your favorite search engine website, and type in the word TEST.


Step 4 - You are at your favorite search engine website, which we all know is www.MortysWeb.com Type in the word TEST in the Google search box and hit the SEARCH button.


Step 5 - MortysWeb.com has now searched and pulled together a list of its findings for the word TEST. But what you need to do is up in the URL box at the top of the window, as shown in the picture above, is highlight and copy the entire URL. You can do that by clicking on that URL twice quickly. The entire URL should now be highlighted. Right click it once and choose COPY. Now go back to the PROVIDERS page with that yellow form box.


Step 6 - As you see in the picture above, in the box at #3, you want to RIGHT CLICK the inside of that box and choose PASTE. It will paste that crazy long URL you got from MortysWeb.com after you did the search for TEST. And then for the box on #4, type Morty's Web and then click the INSTALL button once.


Step 7 - You should get this pop up message after you hit the INSTALL button in Step 6. Make sure you "check" the box that says "Make this my default search provider". And then hit the ADD PROVIDER button.


Step 8 - You're all done. If you look up at the top right of your browser, you should see in the search box that it says "Morty's Web." Now when ever you want to do a Google Search, just type your search term into that box and MortysWeb.com will quickly do the Google Search and you will be helping support MTW at the same time!
