| |  The only historical significant thing- poll
After being in US History for about 2 weeks now, I have been fed a lot about how important the Freeport Doctrine was. Now, Freeport has two historical things about it- #1- Lincoln and Douglas debated here, hence the "Freeport" Doctrine. #2 The guy who assasinated Garfield (I think) lived here... on Stephenson street I think. And I guess if you really want to dig further, a bunch of people got scalped by "Native Americans" at what is currently the Blackhawk War Memorial which is outside of town, including one of my great great great (dont remember how many) grandfather, who escaped on horse, but the horse tripped in a stream... but anyway-
WITHOUT LOOKING *glares at MD*- other than what you have heard from me, does anyone know anything about the Freeport Doctrine, or even heard about it before?
****Don't post what it is or tell anyone else if you know, I want to know how important it really is or if it was blown out of proportion by my history teacher. I will post info about it when the poll closes****

Stuff like this fascinates me. And I am just itching to post this. The only reason I haven't is you asked that we wait for the poll to close.
