Thread: Would you join a book club, and then not read any books??

  1. #1

Question Would you join a book club, and then not read any books??

Alrighty, before you all think that I’ve lost the plot completely and have finally waved goodbye to the last piece of sanity that I had left, let me just say in my defence..I'm tired, I don't sleep much, I've had waaaaaay too much coffee and I have too much time on my hands!!!

And with that said, I ask the above question. You see, in my mind, surely if you join something, the idea is that you join in order to participate, or did miss the point?? Far be it from me to try and press gang people into joining in, but upon closer examination I see a disturbing trend......

At the time of posting, this forum has a total of 766 registered members, obviously we wouldn't expect everyone to post, but with that sort of number you would expect a quite decent level of posting.

However, of those 766 ONLY 67 members have posted once or more....67!! Or a measly 8.8%. Now I know that some people wouldn't see 8.8% as a bad thing..e.g I'd like my dick to be 8.8% bigger, (or smaller if you keep busting zippers!!) But it gets worse, of those 67 people (1 of whom is Bradley - RIP fucker), ONLY 34 have posted 10 or more times!! What the fuck is up with that??? Only 4.4% of 766 people are regular posters on this forum!!

Which sort of makes me think...I mean you wouldn't buy a car to have it sit on your drive-way, would you?? No, you'd drive it, use it and get some enjoyment out of it. The same principal can be applied to pretty much anything, if you are gonna take the time to click the link, register and visit the site at least have the balls to say hello even, and post a joke once in a while!!

I realise that compared to some forums we may be a little bitchier than most, (well, a lot probably!!), but unless you are a complete and utter fucking retard who is just wasting valuable oxygen that the rest of us could probably put to better use, then you really have nothing to worry about....so come on people, join in and give us some new meat to...sorry, I mean some new views and perspectives to debate in our own special MTW way!!!

Rant over, but please, if you think that I really should get more sleep, please feel free to berate me as you see fit, (and if someone other than the Usual Suspects wants to wade on in, hey feel free, I don't charge people to feel anyways!!)

Don't work yourself up...you might melt something.

Kicking stupid people on MTW is more like fishing with a pole, not a net...just wait and they will come to you.

What was interesting about that little rant 3 years ago was that hardly anyone replied to it...and those that did were regular posters at the time.

The stats have altered a little due to members list clear outs since then, but I'll crunch some numbers later and see how things are now.

I understand though that for bringing sponsors & advertisers to MTW the busier the members list...the better, but it really would be nice if just a few of them would jump on in.

I may have to have a little brain storm on an incentive e-mail to send out....Hmmm...off to watch the end of LOSt, then Rescue Me and think about that some more.
