If his doctor didn't have a clue as to why he was hurting so much but gave him the pain meds anyway, that doctor was a fool and shouldn't be able to practice.

I agree about the doctors part in this.. I do not think any doctor should just dole out pain pills and not try to help the patient find out why or help manage the pain.

So in saying that it would be a better asumption to say the doctor did it to him but he did not do it to himself... Even if he was getting mulitple scripts from different doctors. I stand behind my first statement about doing almost anything to get relief. However I dont think all doctors are guilty just the one whom lived with him as surely he knew of all the meds in the house.
