So we managed the last few days pretty much event free. The plasterers came and..well plastered and did inform us that it looks to them like the hole in the main wall was "an accident" and should never have been there so you better believe I'll be taking that up with someone before the work is all done. But we couldn't fault the plasterer guy, he patched the wall as was careful as fuck around the computer.
Friday was interesting though as that was the day they were coming to lay a self-levelling screed on the floor of the kitchen and bathroom ahead of the new flooring going down this next week, and boy did it stink.
Noew I have a really shitty sense of smell, like something has to be really, really bad before I can even get a whiff of it. When I say this it usually leads to people then not believeing me and challenging me to smell the smelliest thing they can think of, generally something along the lines of..."Oh you can't smell, I bet you can smell....." and then they proceed to tell me about whatever the smelliest thing they have to hand is. The reality is I can't smell well at all, something has to really stink before I smell it and the fact that I could smell this stuff was stinking, it must have been pretty unbearable for kelly...
Funnily enough the only thing I can pretty much smell with no problem is freshly cut grass...weird.
I'm kinda the same with coffee. I always say that you can't make coffee too strong for me...doesn't stop people trying though when I say that, I think they see it as a challenge. maybe that's all linked to my lack of smell somewhat, I dunno.
But like every time I get a cup of coffee at Dragon's house she always says, every time, the same thing..."I hope I haven't made that too strong for you!" The person that really took the "challenge" to new heights was my mate Ian after we'd been drinking all day a few years ago and ended up at his place playing Championship Manager on the PC and he asked how strong I wanted my coffee and i said that you can't make coffee too strong for me....I dunno how much coffee he put in the cup but the spoon practically stood straight up in the cup so it was pretty fucking strong. Of course I couldn't then not drink it could I?? I don't think I slept for like a week after that cuppa.
But I digress.....
So yes, the flooring stank the fucking house out, but they fucked off without telling us they were done or how long we had to leave it before we could walk on it, bearing in mind it's the kitchen and bathroom floor, so some idea of when we could use those rooms again would have been nice.
Turned out it was between 4-6 hours as it was fairly quick drying stuff.
So that's where we are now....tomorrow is the main work which is fitting the new kitchen and bathroom so more pictures will no doubt follow once that's done so you can judge if it was all worth it.
