    Question Medical situation

Alright, so this question is due to curiosity & something that happened to a friend! so if you have a child of a young age; has a high fever and then suffers from convulsions or seizure for 15 minutes...OBVIOUSLY, you see a doctor! If that doctor or even nurse tells you to come back if it happens again, while the convulsions/seizure is occurring and that they can only send you (in your own vehicle) to the city, to a suggested Pediatrician?

What would you do or think?

I would dial 999 our emergency and get an ambulance..

411 may be able to help to..

All joking aside. My daughter used to get fevers over 104. and have seizures and convulsions. I would run her to the hospital everytime and they never could tell me anything. The seizures could be due to a high fever in which case you break the fever and they will stop. It is something common in kids and they grow out of.. The question is are the fevers for no reason ??? Cheyennes were just out of the blue. We later found out it had to due with the migraines she had. Sometimes the ER cannot help you as you need a long term care Dr.

So yes I agree with them she needs to see a pediatric Dr right away to have tests down to make sure there is not an underlying problem.

yeah, I said pediatrician or neurologist, even both if she can! As far as I know the Fever was out of the blue, it happened the night before! convulsions happened the next day! which is the concern...but apparently there's a history of epilepsy in her family! so she's keeping a close eye, just to be sure! and she sent her son to the city with grandma, who is a nurses Aide & close to a hospital! so if it is to happen again, she can get him there quicker!

But Thanks for the help mommy, my thoughts exactly when I found out....

I hope they have made him an appt with a Dr. and are not wating for it to happen agian.

If there is epilepsy history then he needs to see a pediatrician and then a neurologist. He needs to have an EEG and they will be able to tell that quick if he has it. It runs in my dads side and I have had seizures before but never tested. That was the first thing they did for Cheyenne.

Tell them to pay close attention to anything he is doing right before it happens if it happens agian. That can possibly help identify if there is a trigger point or they are just random. Seizures are scary.. And I hope the best for this child as I would not wish this on my own worse enemy..

Good Luck and let me know.
