I don't know. If both your daughter and the cat ran away from home, I think you're the problem.
And as for grandma's comment, she's actually correct. Cat's when injured or dieing rarely go home to die. Its some instinctual thing to not attract predator's to their "home" for the safety of the other "cat" family members. Cat was just trying to protect your pussy from being attacked.
