Thread: Windows Movie Maker

  1. #1

    Question Windows Movie Maker

I use Windows Movie Maker for pretty much all the video crap I do. Putting the MTW url on video clips, sticking the MTW stuff at the beginning and end, my video podcasts etc, etc.

I also use it for all the music videos and stuff that I make like the ones for Jericho and what have you.

Well it worked fine last week when I made a video to post on here and now, for some totally unknown reason, it just crashes when you try to save anything that you've done in there...which is quite annoying as I now can't do anything video wise until i figure out either what's wrong with this or work out how to use a new proggy.

Since i last used it successfully I haven't installed anything else and the only thing that I can see has changed on the PC was a microsoft windows update on Friday so I was considering doing a system restore back to that point...but I just don't know...can't figure out why it should just stop working....anyone any ideas??

Or if not, anyone recommend something that's as easy to use as Windows Movie Maker. I have Adobe Premiere Pro & Avid Liquid 7 but I don't know how user friendly they are.

Search the microsoft knowledgebase. If the windows update caused this - it will be documented in there for sure with a fix.

you can go into the control panel>add remove programs and remove the update that was installed on Friday.

Chances are it was a IE7 update and it broke movie maker, you can also try uninstalling IE7 and see if that helps

Well I had a look at running the system restore but that didn't wanna work either so I may try that, however I've got a program called Ulead VideoStudio11 and it does the same job, with more features and seems real easy to use so I'll tinker with that a bit...doesn't really matter which program I use as long as I have one that'll work.

I "acquired" a copy of Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 Suite which seems to do everything I want and more so I think I'm just gonna run with that for the time being.
