Synopsis: The veteran agent of the American secret service Pete Garrison saved the life of president Ronald Reagan in the past and became a legend. Presently he is responsible for the personal security of the American President Ballentine and the first lady Sarah Ballentine, with whom he is having a love affair. When his informer Walter discloses that there is a traitor in the secret service and a plot to kill the president, his former friend David Breckinridge and the chief of the secret service William Montrose are in charge of the investigation and all the agents are submitted to a polygraph test. Due to his situation with Sarah, he is compromised with the results and accused of treachery. He escapes, and in spite of chased by the secret service, he conducts his own investigation trying to find the responsible person or persons.
Opinion: I wanted to watch this primarily because I tend to like Michael Douglas in movies and Kiefer Sutherland is pretty much always good, in my opinion. But overall I was a little disappointed by the end result.
I couldn't help but feel that the story had been kind of covered many times before, and bore more than a passing resemblance to "In the Line of Fire". Plus if you're a fan of 24 then you've kind of seen the whole "Kiefer saving the President" thing more than once already.
Don't get me wrong, this wasn't a bad movie by any means, it was well acted, although I really couldn't see why in the hell Eva Longoria's character was there other than for her to look pretty on screen, and Kiefer did pretty much play Jack Bauer in a suit, but it was still very watchable.
I just felt that by the end it could have been so much better and maybe had a plot twist or two as most movies seem to do these days...maybe I've been spoilt by trying to figure out the twist and when there really wasn't one this time around it kind of made the ending seem a little flat....or maybe it's just me, I dunno.
All in all a good way to pass an hour and a half or so, but wouldn't be right at the top of my list of must see movies.
