Synopsis: Everybody knows that your life is a story. But what if a story was your life? Harold Crick is your average IRS agent: monotonous, boring, and repetitive. But one day this all changes when Harold begins to hear an author inside his head narrating his life. The narrator it is extraordinarily accurate, and Harold recognizes the voice as an esteemed author he saw on TV. But when the narration reveals that he is going to die, Harold must find the author of the story, and ultimately his life, to convince her to change the ending of the story before it is too late.
Opinion: Well let me straight away state that I am possibly an exception to the rule in that I don't like Will Ferrell and have yet to find him funny in anything other than "Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back", but that aside I've been wanting to watch this movie for a while now as from watching the trailer I thought it sounded not unlike a Stephen king short story I once read called "Umney's Last Case", but after watching it, it has only similar themes but was still enjoyable.
The story is really good and the acting from movie heavyweights like Emma Thompson and Dustin Hoffman is every bit as good as you would expect it to be. I think the main role could have been better played by someone else, but I didn't hate Will Ferrell in this movie so I guess that means he did a good job of acting also.
I'm not going to give away any more of the plot than is shown in the trailer, because if you are going to watch the movie, it's better watching it not knowing exactly how the plot resolves itself.
If I were to have any other criticism, it would be that it is maybe slightly over long, by about maybe 15 minutes or so, as some parts did seem a little "laboured"...or maybe it was just because i was actually tired for a change when i watched, I dunno.
All in all, a good story that kept me watching until the end to see how it turned out, but not a movie I would watch again and again, but certainly worth a look if you come across it and there's nothing else to watch.
