Thumbs up Live Free or Die Hard

Movie Title: Live Free or Die Hard

    Director: Len Wiseman

Rated: PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, language and a brief sexual situation.

    Genre: Action

    Runtime: 2 hr. 10 min

    Viewed: Theatre

Synopsis: On the July 4th holiday, an attack on the vulnerable United States infrastructure begins to shut down the entire nation. The mysterious figure behind the scheme has figured out every modern angle -- but he never figured on an old-school "analog" fly in the "digital" ointment: John McClane. No mask. No cape. No problem.

Opinion: The movie was a bit long and at a few times a bit "over the top" with the action (near the point of cartoonish) but overall I was very surprised by how much I liked this movie. I never saw the other Die Hard sequals, only the first, so I can't compare those to this one, but I can say this came damn close to matching the first. The only truely "weak" point in the movie is that the bad guy just wasn't that good of a bad guy. Not bad, just not great. The action is intense, the comedy is great, and the explosions don't ever let up for long.

I really want to see this one.

For some reason it's called called Die Hard 4.0 over here though.

That's because AMERICA IS THE HOME OF THE FREE! Thus the 1 liner in the title.

And I think this was the best one yet. I've seen all the Die Hards and I really liked this one.

As for the bad guy, ya he wasn't a "big bad guy" but he's suppose to be a pissed off computer geek, not a mafia member. He was the original person who designed all the networks and what not that the country relies on. Thus the knowledge of how to bring the country to its knees like he was attempting.

It kicked ass. My fiance normally hates these boom bang explosion movies I love going to. And she actually walked away liking this movie.

That happens a lot outside of the country for some reason. I don't know if they think people are more likely to understand it's Die Hard 4 in the UK if they call it that instead of Live Free or Die Hard or what.

Yeah..it's just unusual for movies over here, it usually goes the other way.

For example the first Harry Potter was changed from Philosopher's Stone to Sorcerer's Stone as they didn't think that the US audience would know what a philosopher was..

Same with The Madness of King George, was originally The Madness of King George III but some Americans thought it was a sequel and they hadn't seen the first two.

People are typically dumb. We can agree on that I think.

Another example is X-men 3. In the US it was simply X3 the last stand, outside the US it was primarily called x-men 3

Just got done watching this and was really impressed with it.

Bad guy was the Porno Producer from "Girl Next Door" with Elisha Cuthbert in it, he almost always plays bad guys in movies.
