Thumbs down Charlie and the Chocolate Factory -Movie Review

Movie Title: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)

    Director: Tim Burton

    Rated: PG

Genre: Adventure / Comedy / Family / Fantasy

    Viewed: Stadium Seating Theater

Synopsis: Charlie Bucket comes from a poor family, and spends most of his time dreaming about the chocolate that he loves but usually can't afford. Things change when Willy Wonka, head of the very popular Wonka Chocolate empire, announces a contest in which five gold tickets have been hidden in chocolate bars and sent throughout the country. The kids who find the tickets will be taken on a tour of Wonka's chocolate factory and get a special glimpse of the wonders within. Charlie miraculously finds a ticket, along with four other children much naughtier than him. The tour of the factory will hold more than a few surprises for this bunch...

Opinion: If you loved the original then don't bother with this one. It has it's moments and is humourous but it really is just a cheap cheesy remake.

Sounds like a "Seymor butts" production...
America is not at war. The US Military is at war. America is at the mall.

Master Max, I'm going to disagree with you on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I GIVE IT A THUMBS UP.

Granted, I only saw bits and pieces of the original movie - and hated it. So, going into this one I pretty much had my mind made up and knew it would suck.

Well...I think Johnny Depp is quite possibly one of the HOTTEST guys around (I'm going to give my age away and say ever since he started out on 21 Jump Street - I'm sure Devoured knows what I'm talking about! ) But, anyway, I thought Depp was hilarious - I laughed so hard I cried. It might just be me though - I didn't notice a whole lot of other people laughing. Maybe I AM twisted????

The plot of poor sweet little Charlie will touch a woman's heartstrings for sure. But mainly Depp makes the movie awesome. He definitely had me laughing with his flashbacks and outlandish behavior. Of course, he also made me horny as hell and I was ready to call The Dog by the time I left the theater...

My 4-year-old thought it was cute and actually sat throughout the movie - which is rare. My preteen daughter and her friends thought it was wonderful. I am now going to buy the movie. Of course, there will be LOTS of pauses on Johnny Depp...

    GREAT MOVIE!!
