    Thanks

This isn't exactly a ramble but I would like to thank the members who, by their various comments, have shown support. I'm not worried about the surgery. I know it is a serious matter when someone digs close to the spinal nerves. The Sciatic nerve is the largest one in the human body: The sciatic nerve is the longest and largest nerve in the body measuring three-quarters of an inch in diameter. (quoted from spineuniverse.com) I doubt that it will be easy to miss. In the diagrams, nerves are usually coloured yellow. In reality I doubt that it other than blood colour. One slip of the surgeon's knife and the legs are useless. Still, I am not worried. I trust my surgeon.

Over the past few weeks, I've been subbing a lot. It seems that I am in demand and seldom spend time at home. This afternoon, I was at a Junior High School, filling in for a teacher who is retiring this year. I had to deal with Social Studies for grade sevens and English for grade eights. Tomorrow, I'm at a different Junior High School and I shall be teaching Drama, apparently. At least I'll have fun--never mind the kids. One of the advantages of having a bad back is that I get to carry a walking stick. It has a large knob that fits nicely into the palm of ones hand, except when I joke that I'm going to hit one of the unrulies on the head. We have lots of fun with it. So far I haven't straddled it or tried to use it as a means of transportation. I prefer to leave that to those who consider themselves expert at manoeuvring broomsticks.

Sad news today. An 18 year old girl who was diagnosed with lung cancer a year ago, died early this morning. She was the girl friend of a kid I know very well. I wonder how things like that happen to kids who don't smoke and are at the height of their youth with all the expectations of a wonderful life. God bless her soul.

I am in the process of questioning my membership in this site. Over the next little while I shall be considering what to do and whether or not to disengage myself from it. At one time, I was one of its greatest fans. . . .

    And so to bed.

So, what would be your reasons for leaving? What would be your reasons for staying? I too left once for a few months, once upon a time. It seems that recently there has not been much to make me want to check as often as I used to. I think that Morty's big push to make MTW bigger has just made it a little less intimate. Too many people use threads as their own Open Forum Chat Room. A bunch of inane chatter, and not much creativity.

I will be moving in late June, and will probably check in on MTW on occasion, but not several times a day like I have been known to do.

If the Doctor messes up, do you wind up shitting into a bag as well as using a wheel chair? Just wondering.

Orin, what the hell are you talking about leaving????
Your like the father we all wish we had. You always give the elders advice that no other member gives. Besides, we like the stories you tell when you go on vacation.
If you left then we'd all have to listen to Maximal and then I'd have to leave
By the way, good luck with the surgery.

    My sentiments exactly.

Don't get me wrong, I think that it's good for the site to grow, but as it has and is the creativity has plummented whilst the mindless links to other sites and constant posting of porn/nekkid women has skyrocketed.

The staples of the site used to be the creativity of the posts, the doctoring of images and general 'unique' MTW humour.

Now that seems to have gone and been replaced by the posting of link after link after link to other sites. I have google for that thank you very much, and if I wanted to read other websites then I would visit them myself. I come here for the uniqueness of MTW which sadly seems to be getting crushed as each day goes by.

PS - (Orin - Don't leave totally. Even if you just check in now and again. I know that it may feel like you have lost the connection with the site a little with the influx of newer members, but there are still some of us who like what the site used to be and would love to see you still around, even if it is only from time to time. And I'm sure that all will go well with your surgery, and you'll have to let us know how you're doing.)

With any luck the useless banter and childishness will go away once the newbies get bored and move on, although I do have to wonder why people log into AOL/Yahoo and MTW and chat on all of them at the same time. Because of ORIN I found this site and the people on it and there are usually a few good things posted on here. To be perfectly honest I haven't click on 80% of the links that have been posted in the last month.

I will be sticking around for quite a while yet and I am going to do my best to post enough good crap to outweigh the bad crap

Well, if it means anything, I plan to clean the place up a bit when I some how manage to find the time. Plan to create 'latest' type lists where there is a "latest" everything, a latest jokes, latest dumps, latest this, latest that. That way for those of you, like myself, that don't feel like looking at all the link dumps over and over but you want to see people's actual posts, they can be easily found PLUS I've got a guy that is wokring on getting the Keep Unreads as unread working properly for the site so that we won't be using the site's front page to see what's new. it will be like it used to be with the old forum, where you visit the forum and you go where the green dots are if you are interested in that section.

I don't think the push to grow MTW is what's bringing the site down, I take personal responisibilty for thinking I was going to somehow get more time to rebuild the site and expand it into the more "creative" direction I plan to and haven't even scratched the surface in starting that yet.

Figures that my available time to work on MTW took a dive right when I dumped the old one and began to rebuild.

But Orin, don't leave. Do like everyone says, just stop by occasionally. Don't even care if you post or read anything other than your rambles. we've all become friends with you and want to know what's going on with your life. Maybe my idea of setting up personal blogs for the site is the answer to separating everyone's chatting into their own little corners.

    Orin,
I don't know you but would like to. I like this site and the people I have met on it. I spend large amounts of time here because of that. I would rather be trying more creative and original stuff here than all the links we have been posting. I just also like sharing something I find funny or interesting with the friends I have made here.
    Don't leave. Help us improve.

    Well said Bones.

I have been a member for sometime now. Although I do not throw in my 'two bob worth' as much as I should, I have come to learn a great deal from Orin and hope that he does continue to contribute his wisdom to the site.

If you do leave, we will miss you Orin
