| Terri Schiavo
I was just reading the latest on the Terri Schiavo case. This whole thing just pisses me off. Why would her parents, who claim to love her so much, want her to live in this condition? This is no life for anyone. They say that her condition will improve "someday". I can't imagine how they feel but you would think they would want peace for their only daughter. Doctors have told them over and over that she is in a PERMANENT vegetative state and nothing can be done. Why not let her die with some dignity. Think about it. Would you want to live like that? Would you want someone to have to feed you? Change your shitty diaper? Wipe the drool off your chin? She can not do anything on her own. She can barely move. Would you want your spouse, sister, brother parent or anybody you cared out living like that? No. We all need to see the lawyer and have our wills drawn up. along with a living will so there will be no question when the time comes. I am only 29 but Terri was really young when she was in that car accident too. Make sure your family knows your wishes. It doesn't matter how old or young you are, it can happen anytime. Just telling your spouse is not enough, it has to be done legally or somebody could fight your wishes. Even your parents. Just let her die in peace with some dignity then grieve and mourn her passing. She deserves that much Sorry for the bitch fest I just feel very strongly about this cause.

Here is the latest update and a pic of her U.S. Senate unanimously passes Schiavo bill CTV.ca News Staff Legislation aimed at prolonging the life of a brain-damaged Florida woman was unanimously passed Sunday by the U.S. Senate. It moves the case of Terri Schiavo into the jurisdiction of the federal courts. However, the House of Representatives has to pass the bill. The earliest they can do so is one minute after midnight tonight. Once U.S. President George W. Bush -- who has returned to Washington -- signs the law, the feeding tube that keeps Schiavo alive will be restored. Earlier Sunday, Democrats refused to permit an expedited vote in the House. House leaders will reconvene at one minute after midnight if there is a needed quorum of 218 members. "Everyone recognizes that time is important here. This is about defending life," White House press secretary Scott McClellan told The Associated Press in Texas. Her parents have notified the hospice of the severely brain-damaged Florida woman to prepare for the tube to be reinserted on Sunday, her third day without food or water. "There are some congressmen that are trying to stop this bill," Schiavo's mother Mary Schindler said outside her daughter's hospice. "Please don't use my daughter's suffering for your own personal agenda." But her husband Michael Schiavo criticized lawmakers for meddling. "I'm outraged, and I think that every American in this country should also be outraged that this government is trampling all over a personal family matter that has been adjudicated in the courts for seven years," he told CNN. "I think that the Congress has more important things to discuss." He has said his wife wouldn't want to be kept alive in what doctors have called a persistent vegetative state. It's the latest development in a controversial right-to-die battle between Schiavo's husband and her parents over whether she should be permitted to die or live with the support of the feeding tube. Schiavo's husband, Michael, won a long and bitter legal battle Friday to have his wife's feeding tube removed, saying she wouldn't want to live in her present condition. The tube was removed Friday afternoon, despite a last-minute push by Republicans to keep her alive with a summons to appear in Washington. On Saturday, word came that U.S. federal lawmakers are stepping in again to try to save her life. Late Friday, a House committee filed an emergency request at the U.S. Supreme Court, asking justices to reinsert Schiavo's feeding tube while it appeals in the lower courts to have its subpoenas recognized. The House of Representatives will meet Sunday to consider limited legislation passed by the Senate that would compel a federal judge to rule on whether withholding food and water from Schiavo violates her constitutional rights. Schiavo's feeding tube has been removed twice before, and then re-inserted within days. Doctors say she will likely survive a week or two. Her parents, say she is responsive and can be rehabilitated. "We laugh together, we cry together, we smile together, we talk together. She is my life," her mother Mary told reporters Saturday. Schiavo, now 41, was just 26 when her heart stopped because of a chemical imbalance reportedly brought on by an eating disorder. She suffered brain damage leaving her in what doctors have said is a permanent vegetative state with no hope of recovery. Court-appointed physicians have testified that Schiavo's brain damage is so severe she will never regain her cognitive abilities.

Its fucking nuts. Somebody go drain the fuel from the back up generators and shut down the power to the hospital. She deserves to die with dignity.

I agree...a life you have no control over is no life at all. This reminds me of the Tracy Latimer case up here in Canada a while back. Tracy was a complete vegetable, unable to do anything on her own, so her dad ended her life by putting her in the cab of a truck and leaving it on for a couple of hours. He was subsequently brought to trial for muider. Anybody with a lick of sense would end Terri's life and allow her the peace that death would provide. Hopefully someday these assholes who "are stepping in again to try to save her life" will understand that there is no life to save in a case such as this, and leave these matters the fuck alone. But I guess that is too much to ask for.

What would be the point of that? She's already a vegetable. I can't believe her parents actually think she's got a chance of coming back around.

Now that her parents have won the right to fight this at the federal level, it could just continue likeit is. Her feeding tube has been out for almost 5 days now. They only have about 9 more days to put it back in before she starves Quote:
