Old friends

I have a few people that I consider good friends. Maybe 10 people total. Well one of them has been a good friend since the day I met him and has always made me laugh. He's a short guy who doesn't get too excited about anything and is constantly moving around the country. Every 5 years I end up calling his moms house to find out where he's at and until recently he was living in an area of California not far from me. Well 5 months ago I tried to get together with him for drinks but couldn't reach him so finally today I broke down and called his mom to see where he was now.She gave me a number and I called it to find out that he now lives on some island near Hatti and doesn't plan on coming back to the states anytime soon.
The way that we met is the funny part of the story, we both went to a basketball camp when we were juniors in high school and after 3 days of camp were in a competition on rebounding with about 30 kids. The coach would stand at 1/2 court and throw the ball against the backboard and whoever got the rebound would get to sit out. Well as chance would have it, he and I were the last 2 guys to get a rebound and we were more concerned about getting position than worrying about the ball. Things got very rough for about 10 minutes and all the other players were laughing their asses off watching us. Finally the coach threw the ball and I got the rebound.
The funny part we didn't know was that the loser had to wear a pair of rather large pink panties and run around the college campus. Funniest thing I ever seen He kept falling down because his feet would get stuck in the leg holes as he was running and get tripped up. Well we became good friends after that and have always found time to see each other no matter where we've been. So I guess my next vacation will have to be somewhere near Hatti sucking down margaritas with my best friend
