Orin's ramble

Thanks for the honour of being one of the Ramblers. I enjoy reading Morty’s Rambles and I’m sure I am going to enjoy these other Rambles through the lives of others.

I remember the time leading up to Max and his wife taking the little girl to foster and how concerned and anxious they were. I think it is a great thing to take a child, even so young, and help to raise it. I know it was difficult at the start but they kept at it. I count Max amongst my friends.

Before the 15th of October, I was told that the book would not be finished and that I still had a lot to do. When I mentioned that my notice was as of the 15th the editor suddenly exclaimed, “No, the 30th of October. When I produced the memo he told me that that was a mistake and that I was to finish at the end of the month. In reality, even this will not be enough but since I have the UK trip booked, I’ll not be able to stay after this weekend. Here’s the truth about the company Max and I work(ed) for: The originator of the books became convinced that for our society to survive, we must know our roots. A society that does not know where it came from is bound to fall. Since the societies of Europe and North America come from Judao/Christian, it is important for us to know how we got to be what we are. The project depended upon donation and then was supposed to become self-supporting. That didn’t work. Max was laid off—someone cheaper came—he left after 3 days. The whole of the editorial department was laid off except for 3 of us at the moment. As of the end of the month we are gone! At the moment we have completed 5 volumes—one is almost finished and then there are another 6 to go (somewhen, somehow).

I am going to enjoy my time in Britain, even if my sciatic nerve tries to make if difficult. It sounds dumb giving the nerve a personality but it has a mind of its own. There seems to be no reason for the times when it is relaxed and the times when it is agonizing. I know that Iron knows exactly what this is like and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone (well, I wouldn’t wish it on most people). I shall be in London, Oxford, Cardiff, then London again and finally I’m going to stay at a Greek Orthodox monastery in Essex for about 10 days. The latter part will be restful, I hope.

I’m going to give my cell phone number to Mark before I go and hope that he’ll call me. It will be fun to talk to him. At some point I’ll get my computer microphone fixed up and use that skype program. I just have to have time to do that.

‘Till next time

Really the Whole Foster to adopt thing was becasue we wanted a little girl and we were not about to go through pregnancy and the whole 4 am feedings thing again ( and maybe end up with another boy). Plus the whole getting pregnant thing was a nightmare.
Going through a private agency would have cost us money but going through the Government is a no cost to us process. So even though we are doing something good it is all born out of selfishness

Does your wife have COOTIES?

I am sure many of the MTW crowd would have stood in for you if you could not "Get the Job Done"

I'm sure that any of the members (hehehe) would have stood in, however between her not making the eggs needed and my guys being extremely lazy, it just wasn't happening.

By release, you mean when you take your hand away.

Just be careful, they might not let you back in, after all you have been annoying them for 50 years
