Gas/Petrol Prices

It is...at current exchange rates £1 (Great British Pound) is worth about $2 (US Dollars)...whioch means that the pound is stronger than the dollar.

Which means that you double the UK amount to get a rough Dollar amount...or half the dollar amount to give you a UK amount.

Therefore if fuel costs you around $4.50 a gallon then you half that to get £2.25 per gallon.

So what I'm saying is that if we paid what you're paying it would only cost us £2.25 per gallon over here, but it doesn't. Fuel costs us around £5.20 per gallon, so if you double that amount it gives you over $10 per gallon....so really you aren't paying that much in comparison to the rest of the World...yes it's more than you're used to paying, but you've had prices cheaper than the rest of the World for decades, and even though your fuel costs have maybe doubled, they're still only half of what we pay over here.

That's why it annoys me to hear all the US people pissing and moaning about how much fuel costs them when the reality is you're still far cheaper than most other Countries.

That and the average yearly salary in the US is substantially higher than what it is in the UK. I can't say for absolute certain, but I'm pretty sure the average UK salary is somewhere around the £20000 mark which is about $40000 dollars and I bet that the US National Average yearly wage is far higher than $40000.

Doesnt matter we all are still paying to much..We will actually be trading in our suv for a car due to the fact it will be much more economical...And it makes it easier for me to piss off aall these texans with thier big trucks hehe

So yeah gas prices here have droped over a 1.50 in the last few months. We topped out at just over 4.00 and now we are at 2.42

I gave a $1.99 last weekend in Fort Smith,AR....and my son and pops saw $1.79 in texas and oklahoma.....makes me want to fill every jug I can find.

No idea what it is here..I don't drive but I do know it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more expensive than what you pay in the US.

I think no matter what the prices are, it all depends on how much you have to spend on gas. To generalize everyone in a certain country that they shouldn't be complaining about gas prices is kinda unfair since you don't know how much that person makes or their other bills they have to pay. Average salary is just that-average of everyones salaries put together, not everyone is going to be making that average amount. *someone making minimum wage here, working 40 hours a week in a year woud make- $11,832. Although any job that pays minimum wage, rarely works 40 hours a week.
