Cancer sucks ass

Well I figure it's time to share with everyone.

Some of you already know what has been going on for the last couple of months but here goes for the rest of you.

So a couple of months ago we get a call that our 16 year old niece in Ontario who is a beautifull, smart, cheerleader has been diagnosed with cancer in her knee and needs to go for treatment and surgery. Well she gets sent down to Toronto for treatment and they find that she also has cancer in her lungs. BTW it is the same cancer that Terry Fox died from.

So they have tried a rarely used type of Chemo to try and shrink the tumours behind her lungs. Last monday we got a call that she had been sent home for a week to relax at home. So we booked flights and went on back for a visit. She had never seen our daughter and wanted to see our son again. We managed to spend quite a bit of time with her and she got to spend time with her cousins.

It really seemed to cheer her up and it was good to be able to see her have the memories of this last visit.

She flew back to Toronto today and has appointments all day tommorrow for tests to see if there has been any change in her condition. So hopefully by the end of the week we'll have some good news.

She always was a mouthy little girl and she hasn't changed, if anything she is more determined than ever.

So now Let's get back to enjoying the site.

I would say my prayers...but well...ya know...so my thoughts are with her & the family, (and not just because she's a 16 year old cheerleader either...c'mon I wouldn't be me if I didn't say something along those lines!)

But I agree with Cancer being the worst...sucks for anyone at any time, but has got to be that much harder at 16..but I honestly believe that a lot of fighting cancer comes down to a positive attitude and I think those that have a good one and really are "up for the fight" have a much better chance than those who just throw in the towel.

I agree with Will ... Help her stay strong and positive and she can beat this.

This is so horrible I really wish the best for her. Im glad you were able to go visit Im sure it ment alot.

I am a cancer survivor so I know how ruff it is and how easy it would have been to just succomb to it and let it win. But with a whole life ahead of you that is not an option !! She can do it.

Max agian Im so sorry. As I am not religous either { part of my reasoning is what I went through} I will ask Jasons Grandma to pray for your family. She is very religous and will pray for you and your family like there is no tomarrow !! Dont know if it works but sometimes its nice to know someone is hoping the best !!

You know my prayers are with you and your family. Cancer is a terrible disease. But like everyone else here has said, a positive attitude can make it better. I'm here for you Max!

I've never heard of cancer in the knee. She sounds like shes positive and getting on with it, and not letting it get her down, which is the main thing for fighting cancer. 16 is really young to have such a terrible illness, and i hope she wins the battle, im sure she would, she sounds like she has good spirit.
