  |  The deed is done
So after a hell of a day.......more than I care to even type about, the deed is done! My stepson has been hauled off to jail tonight for possesion of stolen property. Not a lot to say other than it had to be done for his own good. The next few days should prove interesting.................Stay tuned for updates! Talk about failing as a parent............it isn't easy.

Sometimes you can do all you can do and they still fuck up. Hang in there dude hopefully it will jerk the slack out of him and it will get him to striaghten up....

you havent failed as a parent,i would say you did nothing but the best for him.a short stint in jail should hopefully sort him out..dont put yourself down...

Good for you for having the balls to stick with it. He is your step son, unfortunately you can't take the blame for failing as a parent. And, sometimes it doesn't matter how much positive you give them, they're going to go through a little rebellion, it should just suck so they don't want to continue to rebel!!

you didnt fail big man... hes an adult and has chose to make his own bad desions >_< your still a great dad! if anyone failed itd be his real dad for not being there. who knows myabe a little while in jail will strighten his ass up. if not. well theres always prison... dont stress yourself

Pretty tough to deal with, my brother has been in and out of jail since he was 13, he's 3 years younger than I am... I'm 31. My parents did everything for the guy too.. I pretty much stayed home by myself while they looked out for him. Sometimes you can do everything in the world for them but they still screw up. Don't beat yourself up too much over it.

Don't beat yourself up any at all,,,people make their own decisions to do right or wrong. I'm sure most of us have done something stupid sometime or another in our life. Some get caught, set up, ratted on,,,,,,,some don't. |

Probably the best thing that ever happened to me was my mom letting me go to jail for a few days, instead of bailing me out. I knew then that I didn't want to go back so I stayed pretty straight since.

Yup what everyones sayin Doggie .. You are not a bad parent and it must be the hardest thing to do .. BUT sometimes it has to be done !!! As parents we want to protect our children and do whats best for them but we cannot be there 24 hours a day to guide them they have to learn from thier mistakes...You can teach right and wrong but remember they are teens and we were somehow just born as adults and were never teens ourselfs so we do not know what we are talkin about... I felt the same way when I was a teen and now I'm dealin with it to !! Just stay strong and let him face what he has done if you rescue him he will not learn !!

It's not so easy to be a good parent and make the hard choices to make sure our kids grow up to be the best kids they can be...good to see you are doing what needs to be done. Just remember this isn't just for him, your daughter will also get it and it will help her
