| Today is a really important day for me and my family because my older sister & only sibling is having her first baby. She is due to be induced sometime this morning, she has to call the hospital at 8am to be given a time to go in. I am, alongside her husband, one of her birthing partners. He is very squeamish and we are not sure whether he will hold out or in his case hold in (the vomit) long enough to see the whole thing through so I am going partly to tough it out with her the whole way.The other reason I am there is being I know she is shit scared of whats gonna happen from start to finish. You see my sister is an asthma sufferer and at the beginning of December 2006 while 7 months pregnant she was rushed to A&E with a severe attack. So severe she was in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) for 5 days during which at the beginning it was very touch and go. They almost ventilated her there and then and delivered the baby by C-Section however were not too keen to do that because of his size at that time. Since that scare she has had to be very very careful indeed about what she has done and where she has been. Last week her asthma started getting bad again so the hospital gave her a weeks course of steroids and told her to come back yesterday to discuss induction. Since she now finds it hard to walk up one flight of stairs without being breathless for an hour after, they have decided today is the day She is so relieved but now also very scared. They are fully aware the labour could trigger an athma attack so allkinds of support are now in preparation and apparently she is well known now throughout the whole hospital.I am working until lunch time and will then be travelling to my home town just a little over an hour away. I too am soooo excited but as you'd expect a little anxious too, especially after some recurring bad dreams, just trying to keep them all in perspective though. I'm praying it all goes well and that I also don't faint when the gooey bits start. I will keep you all posted but I don't think it will be for a few days.

| Re: Going To Be An Aunt Good luck. When my first child was born we had a birthing coach because I thought I wouldn't make it through it. But when push came to shove we all made it through standing up. Well my wife was laying down. Again good luck.
