Premium members?

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately. And to be quite honest, I am appalled about the whole premium membership thing that has gone on. I have been a member of this site since April 2004. I remember when Cable Monkey was still active, when Maximal first joined the site, the first time Will left us, and other things that many of the newer members weren't here to access. Now granted, it may be a good idea to get people to pour money into the site, but what about those loyal members who have been around forever and just can't afford to because of other issues with life. Does that make us any less of a premium member than the others? And yes it does bother me for I am one of those less fortunate people that can't go off and blow money on whatever i want. Hell, I'm struggling being a single mom. Does that make me less than anyone else that wears that tag of a premium member just because I can't afford to drop money like that?

One more thing I wish to add.

Premium members should be those of us who have been around for a hell of a long time and haven't done anything to fuck with our community. THOSE are the people who should be named premium members. Those are the people who have worked so hard to keep MTW going by spreading the word and doing what they can for the site.

Problem is that it costs Morty over $2000 a year just for server costs, and he tried to avoid the Premium membership at all possible costs, and that was why he put the donations thread up in the hope that some of the long time, long serving members would send something....even $1 would have helped.

Not one member did.

So he has 2 options...shitcan the whole damn place as it was such a financial drain, or create some way to get people to help out with the place.....hence Premium Members.

I'll pay the year out of the money that I owe you...even though, in the grand scheme of things with my life right now a premium membership is so petty and inconsequential that I really couldn't care....I don't really care about much but my family right now, but if it's that important, consider it paid.

No Will. I wasn't even going to ask you because what is going on with you. And I am not that lame. And honestly, if you read the conversation, you'd know that it's beside the point.

Not everyone who comes to this site can afford it because they have other things going on.

It's all besides the point. No one should be rewarded like that for doing something that we all should be doing anyway. There shouldn't be special places for "premium" members to hide out. It honestly makes anyone who can't do anything due to fianancial matters feel like they are lesser than people who can. It's demeaning.

Honestly, Max and I came up with a solution to me, but that is if I choose to do so. Money is tight with me. I'd rather spend what I do have and all that on my kids and getting my own ass situated. If I had the money to spare, it would be a different thing. Which you should know all too well that I don't mind helping out when I can.

I consider you and a select few to be the backbone of MTW. The reason I keep this site alive besides my own personal enjoyment. But to come out firing your guns like this? WTF?

How about starting a fucking thread on a more positive note? Maybe saying you would like to see the title "Premium Membership" changed to something else other than PREMIUM? Since that seems to be the key word that tossed the sand in your clit. Or skip the thread all together and send me an email or PM about your thoughts.

And yes, it frustrates me that I have had to bring MTW to the point that I ask for money. Besides the server costs every year, I'm upgrading scripts that require money. Sure I could stick with the same script version since its working, why not stick with it. Problem is, the hackers finally find a way in with the outdated scripts. So I pretty much have no choice but to upgrade to the latest and greatest secure releases.

Go take a look at eBaums or any other succesful Humor website and count how many ads you see on the page. Then click a link to another page, and another and another. And then tally up your totals of how many ads you counted. And then do it again but this time count how many times your Pop-Up blocker flashed letting you know it just blocked yet another pop-up. Do you have any idea how many cookie tracking scripts those sites are running and how their allowing advertisers to look into your PC and check out your cookies and improve their marketing by knowing where you hopped around the net lately and what you purchased?

Now come back to MTW and click around for 5 hours straight and tell me how many fucking ads you count? How many pop-ups did your pop-up blocker stop? Oh wait? Did it block one pop-up? That must of been because you received a Private Message from a fellow MTW member. Sure as fuck wasn't because you received a fucking pop-up ad.

Unlike most webmasters, I didn't start MTW, I don't have it running now, and I will never have MTW running to make me money and sure as fuck not to pay my bills. All I am trying to do is keep MTW alive.

I'm going to be getting married soon and hopefully starting a family. Money is going to get even tighter. When Morty Jr. needs braces and I don't have a few grand to cover the costs, guess what's gonna have to go? MT-fucking-W. I'm going to have to say fuck all of you and farewell, my family comes first and my kids got some fucked up teeth cuz I accidentally backed over his face with my truck.

Well, I think I'll quit with my version of a ramble and go back to what I was doing. Which was working on MTW to make the site better for all of you to experience.

Shit, I was surprised to find that MTW wasn't a costly site. Most of the good ones are and compared to them this site seems pretty affordable! I love this site and when I get an extra $10 bucks you'll get it!
