So they invited you too??? Seems like everyone in the world was invited except for me

Hell, if I want to even go visit them I have to call and warn them at least a month in advance

Re: Kids

So they have plenty of time to NOT be there.
You know the only reason they let you in is because of your kids right?

Re: Kids

I think early 20's at the latest for leaving home. My sister lived with our folks until she was 34 and even now she returns home from November to March to live with them - she lives and works in Turkey the rest of the year. It drives my mum to distraction when she and her husband come home because they are quite messy and very laid back.

This year it has not been so bad because my brother-in-laws visa allowed him to work but last year neither of them worked and it became very difficult. My sister has not been able to work again this year as she is pregnant and has suffered severely with her asthma throughout the pregnancy. She seems to think though that it renders her disabled and she does very little to help out in the house. The last time my mum visited me my sister even sent her a text asking her if there was any washing powder in the garage rather than walk the 10 yards to check
I say if they haven't made plans by the time they are 25 you should gently encourage them by packing their bags, putting them on the door step and changing the locks

Re: Kids

As long they are contributing and doing the right things I should consider myself lucky.

Re: Kids

I stayed at home while I was in college, but I paid bills and worked around the house as rent, my parents didn't ask, I just paid the utilities and did the yard work & errands. I even bought my parents a new TV, VCR and stereo, they did not ask I just did it.

I spent the morning of my 21st birthday digging up the water main to the house with a spade and barrow... up at 06:00 in the pissing rain... fun stuff.

Re: Kids

Yep, so long as they're in school and contributing to the household, I say don't rush them. It'd make you feel horrible if you rushed them out and they fell flat on their asses and had to move back in!!
