| Talent comes in many shapes and forms and varying levels. Somewhere inside all of us, we've all dreamed of having our fifteen minutes of fame, even if it were a fleeting thought. The tragic pattern emerging, however, is that society is not elevating the truly talented anymore! Now it is all a display of who you know (suddenly I want to holler WHO'S YOUR DADDY?!?), the scandals you can be part of, and how 'marketable' you are. My passion is music, so that is where most of my impressions are derived from. A true musician picked up an instrument (or tested it out, in the case that one's instrument is their voice) and fell in love with it, began a passionate affair with it, and never looked back. Some of these hard working truly talented people will never be recognised for their hard work and passion, simply because they are not 'marketable.' They are not beautiful, they are not conformists, they are not after the easy dollar... It seems as though we are filling our generation with icons that solidify the theory that if you are not what society wants to look at, then no amount of talent is enough. The beautiful faces that can somewhat carry a tune after hours of studio creativity and remixing will always get further than the wildly talented ones that don't look incredible in their levi's. Hey...I'm thin, above average height, red-headed and easy on the eyes...I even have a guitar. Unfortunately I can't really sing...I should take a couple months of vocal training, make sure I am barely acceptable to listen to, and go on tour. Will you buy my cd?

Sure thing, I respect anyone who is willing to try and doesn't give a shit on how they sound! I'm the same way, not that great of a singer(well in my own eyes) also out of practice and have played numerous instruments! but I still try!

whic of those would you be talkin about cause all those "successful" pop and hip-hop, r&b singers who have the look or whatever like you were talkin about, have tried and just happen to have a "hit or miss" situation! they happened to succeed now I'm not sure if it would be cause they have the look and what not, but they still succeeded and some of them I like when they put some clothes on and actually use their talent and not their labia to get some attention!

I was raised hearing the "everything will be given to you and if it isn't then the goverment will give you monthly checks cause they owe you" attitude and I devleoped my own "If you work for something and fail then try something else and know that at least you have tried and that everything you have is because you earned it" ---------- Oh and good to see you still hanging around Bloo

Good to see you back Bloo, and I completely agree. Society today is far too hung up on how people look rather than what they can accomplish, and it's invading all areas of life. But those talentless gits that win shows like Pop/American Idol, X-Factor (in the UK) and the like don't appeal to me 1 little bit. I will try out any kind of music and judge it on the music, which is probably why I tend to go for bands that can actually play instruments rather than some good looking teenager who can have her voice made to sound however the execs want to as she's never gonna do more than lip-sync anyway. So yep, I'd buy your CD.

You know, sorry to say but sex sells, so yep those who look great tend to have it easier! They don't have to sing well (Britney Spears) Just be cute and willing to shake their ass! But if you like it you like it and if you don't you don't. I happen to love Carrie Underwood who was on American Idol here, I think she's great. I also think she would've made it on her own,it just would've taken her longer to do so. I can't say for sure I would buy your cd but, if you put a link to a sample on here I'd definately check it out!
