Started my new job today as a Electrician Apprentice. I have been doing Industrial Maintence for the last 15 or so years, Hydrolics, pneumatics , boilers, and everything in between so I felt I was competent enough for the job, which I am but should of seen the looks on some of there faces when of course they ask me "how long you been a electrician" and I look at my watch and say oh about 3 hours now. After assembling a few light poles, they are building a new Lowe's Store in my town, I then got to go shovel dirt for almost 3 hours in the 100+ sun. Thinking dang my mom was right I would end up digging ditches for a living. After lunch while I was thrilled to be off the shovel detail, I finished it, was told I was going to hang struts for the lights, thought cool. well for those of you who don't know I live in Arizona, southern Arizona where by 9 AM this time of the year it hits 100 degrees and slowly keeps climbing up. This a store with a metal roof, and having lived in Arizona most of my life have been in some hot working conditions, but OMG this tops them all by far, the first 2 feet below roof was ungodly, which is where I had to work. They were saying it was 140 up in there and I believe this is pretty close, Tuesday I am going to take a thermo ter and find out just how hot it is. How it always ends up I get these types of jobs during the summer is beyond me, but at least I'm not doing roofing now, . This job should last just about till the heat starts going away, then if my luck holds true it will be off to Alaska to work for the winter.

When I use to live in Bullhead City Arizona I had a digital thermometer in my welding helmet to keep track of how hot it was under my hood. Wasn't uncommon to see it read 165 degrees for about 5 hours out of the day. You have it all figured out Jeff........ work in Arizona during the summer and Alaska during the winter
