Mall theft suspect's dress torn off trying to escape security

SPOKANE VALLEY -- Spokane Valley Police are looking for a 33-year-old Spokane woman who assaulted a mall security officer Monday night and then fled the store in her underwear.

Unfortunately for Nichole Mechell Marriott, she left her purse containing her identification and the jeans she was stealing at the Macy’s scene of the crime.

The event kicked off about 6:30 p.m. when store security officers began watching Marriott as she picked up various items of clothing without seeming to care about sizes or price. She carried the items into a changing room, then exited and placed everything but a pair of jeans on a counter.

When she walked out of the store without paying for the missing jeans, the security staff stopped her. At first she appeared cooperative and accompanied them back inside, but then became combative and attempted to flee.

During the scuffle, she punched the male security officer twice in the chest. He pulled her to the floor, but the suspect’s coat came off and she was able to regain her feet. When he grabbed her dress, the garment tore and it too came off the thief. Marriott ran out of the store in only her underclothes and jumped into a white Honda.

The security staff found Marriott’s purse and ID on the floor with the coat and torn dress.

Officer Darrell Stidham arrived to conduct the follow-up investigation and learned that Marriott is already wanted on six warrants charging her with two counts of Third Degree Theft, two counts of City Theft and single counts of Second Degree Theft and Third Degree Driving while License Suspended.

Stidham added to her wanted status by completing a request that she be charged with Second Degree Robbery for the Macy’s theft and assault.

Okay but my problem is if her dress was ripped off and she was nekid in just panties..Where were the alleged jeans she was stealing ?? They make no mention of them whatsoever...
