Toy Warning For Millions Of Parents

Parents are being warned to take toys away from their children after Mattel recalled millions of its products.

The toy firm has issued a recall notice on millions of its toys because of fears over lead paint and loose magnets.

The toys include favourites such as Barbie, Batman, Doggie Day Care, Polly Pocket and Cars character Sarge.

The latest recall comes less than a fortnight after Mattel pulled 94,000 Fisher-Price toys from the UK and Ireland amid concerns about lead in their paint.

The die-cast toy Cars character Sarge, made between May and July 2007, has been found to have "impermissible levels of lead".

The firm is recalling 436,000 of the toy cars globally, of which 253,000 are in the US and 49,000 are in the UK and Ireland.

In addition, the firm is pulling 18.2 million magnetic toys globally because of fears the magnets may come off.

This affects 1.9 million in the UK and Ireland and includes dolls, figures, play sets and accessories.

All of the recalled products were made between 2002 and 2007 and were sold to customers before January.

Chief Executive Robert Eckert said: "The safety of children is our primary concern, and we are deeply apologetic to everyone affected.

"Mattel has rigorous procedures, and we will continue to be vigilant and unforgiving in enforcing quality and safety."

Mattel is warning consumers to take the affected products away from children immediately and to get in touch for a refund or replacement.

There have been no reported injuries as a result of the manufacturing problems, a UK spokeswoman for Mattel said.

Well there is probably less lead content!

As long as you don't give them a hammer or a lighter, the ammo should be safe.

It's russian ammo.. very little lead in it..

In russia they are so poor that even the bullets get robbed..

We bought that same barbie for a friends daughter... hilarious.
