Interesting to see however, that the only example for the UK....

....wasn't committed by a high school/University aged person who "just wasn't happy" or whose mommy & daddy just didn't love him enough. Thomas Hamilton was a whack job however, no denying that, but as guns are technically illegal over here, school shootings the like of which are happening all over and primarily in the US are incredibly rare over here.

Not saying we have all the answers, because as I said earlier in the weekly poll, if people want to get the guns, and are determined to commit a crime, no amount of control or legislation will ever stop them.

Not to mention, and everytime someone brings up the guns in the UK issue I always wonder this, I really would like to know the other means of violent crimes in comparison. Yes, I'm aware we have more gun deaths, but we also have more guns. How about other things like knives, being beaten to death, hands, etc. I'd really like to know how they compare cause thats a more fair comparison of murders. Plus in general also like to compare reported rape and assault for UK and US. I mean US will be higher, but how does it look percentage wise...

Interesting question...especially when you consider that recently there has been a spate of knife attacks at schools in London, and a number of people killed as a result.

Just seems as though the media always seize on the "guns are bad" issue.

Yep the media will emphasize the bad stuff, they never emphasize, Mr John Q public pulled his legally licensed concealed carry and stopped, ol-smokey the crackhead from carjacking little old ladies, it just doesn't get the same ratings on the tele

A lady I work with nephew goes there, she was going nuts, cuz they were trying to call him afterwards and he didnt pick up his cell. Turns out when the police evacuated everyone he left his cell in his backpack in the classroom. The 2 hr gap they said he went to the post office to send out the video tape, in which he said the kids from columbine shooting were his brothers and he blamed everyone else for what he was going to do. One seriously messed up kid.
