Thumbs up Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)

Movie Title: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (200

Director: Steven Spielberg

Rated: Spain:T | Canada:PG | Norway:11 | Singapore:PG | Argentina:Atp | Brazil:12 | Ireland:12A | Australia:M | Netherlands:12 | Canada:G (Quebec) | UK:12A | Sweden:11 | Portugal:M/12 | Malaysia:U | Denmark:11 | Finland:K-13 | Hong Kong:IIA | Philippines:G (MTRCB) | Switzerland:10 (canton of Geneva) | South Korea:12 | Switzerland:10 (canton of Vaud) | USA:PG-13

Genre: Action | Adventure

Runtime: 124 min

Viewed: Stadium

Synopsis: During the Cold War, Soviet agents watch Professor Henry Jones when a young man brings him a coded message from an aged, demented colleague, Henry Oxley. Led by the brilliant Irina Spalko, the Soviets tail Jones and the young man, Mutt, to Peru. With Oxley's code, they find a legendary skull made of a single piece of quartz. If Jones can deliver the skull to its rightful place, all may be well; but if Irina takes it to its origin, she'll gain powers that could endanger the West. Aging professor and young buck join forces with a woman from Jones's past to face the dangers of the jungle, Russia, and the supernatural

Opinion: Now I am not the biggest Indiana Jones fan, but I did go see this movie expecting it to be good. It opened with some suspense and straight into the action, then it slowed down a bit to bring you up speed and went right back into action mode, There are allot of stunts in this movie, and most of them are really good. I did find the jungle chase sequence kinda long and drawn out, but it was a good action and stunt sequence so I guess they had to keep it.

I did feel it stole allot of the story line from National Treasure, but the overall story stands pretty clear on it's own.

Now I don't want to ruin it for anyone, but everyone has probably already heard about the aliens at the end and all the "how the hell do they get to aliens" talk. I just have to say if you get past the first 15 minutes and haven't figured out that the whole movie has to do with aliens, then hit yourself in the head and walk out, cause you is way to dumb to watch this movie.

Over all I really liked it and felt it was a worthy sequel!

Acting (Scale from 1 to 5):

My Overall Rating (Scale from 1 to 5):

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)

I was somewhat disappointed with the movie myself. Was fine with the ending and all, just thought certain things lacked "intelligence". I felt like the past Indi movies did a good job, even though far-fetched, maintain logic.

Like the gun powder thing to locate the magnetic chest. If force was strong enough to pull the dust from opposite end of warehouse, then getting closer to it would have ripped their guns and sword right the hell off of their bodies, and not the slow motion rolling and stuff.

And the tree swinging scene was way lame. I liked that kid in transformers, but now I realize he's kind of a shitty actor.

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)

I just watched this last night, (got a screener copy so I didn't have to leave the house), and I was disappointed with it. I like the original 3 but I'm not a huge fan of the movies, but this just felt like a lame sequel for no other reason than to make $$$'s.

Biggest "surprise" for me was how shitty the CGI was, and it really stood out in the jungle chase scene.

In my opinion CGI can be a good thing and can visually help the film-maker achieve things on screen that would otherwise be impossible, but to my mind the best CGI is when it's there but it's not right at the forefront of your mind that it's there...if you know what I mean.

In other words, they should use the CGI and you should be taken along for the ride, not sat there thinking "Wow...that's fairly obviously CGI!". Can't really explain it more than that, but it was just ...well not what I would expect from Spielberg & Lucas. Actually, the light sabre scene in "Episode III : Revenge of the Sith" between Anakin & Obi-Wan on the lava planet....that was obviously CGI but you were drawn into the fight and the action and the CGI wasn't slapping you in the face.

Totally agree with the whole gun powder and vine swinging criticism as well.
