| ![]() Movie Title: Iron Man (200 Director: Jon Favreau Rated: South Korea:12 | New Zealand:M | Ireland:12A | Sweden:11 | Singapore:PG | Switzerland:12 (canton of Vaud) | USA:PG-13 (certificate #4432 Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Sci-Fi, Thriller Runtime: 126 min Viewed: Stadium Synopsis: Tony Stark is the complete playboy who also happens to be an engineering genius. While in Afghanistan demonstrating a new missile he's captured and wounded. His captors want him to assemble a missile for them but instead he creates an armored suit and a means to prevent his death from the shrapnel left in his chest by the attack. He uses the armored suit to escape. Back in the U.S. he announces his company will cease making weapons and he begins work on an updated armored suit only to find that Obadiah Stane, his second in command at Stark industries has been selling Stark weapons to the insurgents. He uses his new suit to return to Afghanistan to destroy the arms and then to stop Shane from misusing his research Opinion: Ok lets start off with casting When I heard that Robert Downey Jr was cast as Tony Stark, I had to stop and think about that for a minute, I wasn't sure he would be able to pull it off, and I thought they might have been better going with an unknown actor. However I do have to say he does an awesome job in the roll. In fact in my opinion he takes over the movie and makes the roll his. The casting of Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts was another choice I wasn't sure of, especially after her roll in Sky Captain, but she does play the roll really well. I really liked the fact that it wasn't a "Rah Rah USA USA" movie, it was a super hero origin movie that kept my interest for the whole two hours! This movie was great, the plot was plausible, still a little far fetched but plausible and could happen. I'm not going to spoil anything for anyone, but suffice to say you will enjoy the movie. I heard many comments from wives and girlfriends that they couldn't believe how good it was. Oh and stay and watch the credits there is a clip after that is worth seeing. This movie is getting my highest rating so far. It was great! Acting (Scale from 1 to 5): Story/Plot (Scale from 1 to 5): My Overall Rating (Scale from 1 to 5):

| Lusting Over Leelee | Re: Iron Man (2008) I quite fancy this one. Been a fan of Robert Downey Jr's for years since I saw him in Less Than Zero I think. Oh and I wouldn't be me if I didn't say this...it's role not roll.... Quote:

| Lusting Over Leelee | Re: Iron Man (2008) Watched a screener of this tonight, (after the MTW show of course), and I have to agree it is a pretty damn good movie..didn't feel like 2 hours at all. I've always been a Robert Downey Jr fan, (in fact he's in one of my all time favourite movies "Less Than Zero"), but not much of a comic book/Iron Man fan so didn't know if I was gonna like this or turn it off after 10 minutes or so.....I'm happy to say I really enjoyed it. And this movie yet again proves why I hate the fact that TV stations talk over end credits or cut them off or shrink them down, they're generally there for a purpose and if you stick with them you sometimes get "easter eggs"....so do as Max says and watch all the way to the end or you'll miss something. |
