| Lusting Over Leelee | ![]() Movie Title: The Condemned Director: Scott Wiper Rated: Portugal:M/18 / Singapore:NC-16 / Canada:18A (Alberta/British Columbia/Manitoba) / USA:R / Canada:14A (Ontario) Genre: Action/Thriller Runtime: 113 Minutes Viewed: In my chair on the TV screen Trailer:
Synopsis: "The Condemned" tells the story of Joe Conrad (Stone Cold Steve Austin), who is awaiting the death penalty in a corrupt Central American prison. He is "purchased" by a wealthy television producer and taken to a desolate island where he must fight to the death against nine other condemned killers from all corners of the world, with freedom going to the sole survivor. Opinion: Okie Dokie, first things first, I was really only interested in seeing this as it was from WWE Films/Lionsgate and I was curious to see how Stone Cold Steve Austin translated into an action hero. From the out set let me just say this movie is never going to win any awards for originality or acting, but if you want a movie that pretty much delivers on the all out action and explosion front, and you aren't too concerned about plot or acting skills then you'll have a good time with this movie as that what it delivers. The plot is similar to movies made in the past and most notably a mix of the plots from "Surviving The Game" , "The Island", "Battle Royale" & "The Running Man". Vinnie Jones does his usual turn as the Cockney Speaking Hard Man which is pretty much the only role that he can play, and while he's quite hammy and over the top in this movie, again it's the kinda thing that you've come to expect in these second rate action thrillers that don't have the budget of some of the bigger movies. All in all the movie delivers what it promises, action, explosions, and bad acting fortunately not bad acting to the Steven Segal/Jean-Claude Van-Damme level, and for that reason alone it's worth checking out if you just want and hour and a half of mindless explosions, with maybe just a slight hint of a stab at the news media culture of today thrown in. Acting (Scale from 1 to 5): Story/Plot (Scale from 1 to 5): My Overall Rating (Scale from 1 to 5):
