  |  AVG no longer free? Last Friday I downloaded a free version of AVG anti-virus from their website. http://grisoft.com Yesterday I went to the website to download it again on my parents PC and the entire website is rebuilt and I can't find the free version anymore. I don't think they are offering it for free anymore.  Am I mistaken?

| Re: AVG no longer free? I don't know!! But we had the old version on our computer and had to update to the newer version. They told us to removed the old version and then download the newer one. We uninstalled the old one and kept trying and trying to put the new one on, but it kept telling us that the old version was still on there and the new one wouldn't download until the old one was gone. We have since tried and tried to remove the old version but the computer says it's not there until we try to download the new one. It's very puzzling to me. Any suggestions??

Will is right the it is still there they just changed the site. heinz, try running the install again and when the menu comes up with the option to remove the software pic that choice, then it will either work or give you an error message, let us know what the error message is. You may have to reinstall your computer

Is that like putting it back in the box, taping it up, then cutting the box back open and putting it on their desk and reconnecting all the cords? ---------- I had an issue yesterday actually. Since the other day I was brain dead and was too dumb to find the FREE version, I installed the "trial" version just so my parents had virus protection until I could mess with their PC again. Anywho, it kept f'n up over and over and wouldn't uninstall properly. Finally I got smart and went into the PC's system settings and processes. Or whatever its called. And I disabled the AVG stuff that was running. And then I could UNinstall it perfectly, then reinstalled without any issues. Forget how to get to that point on XP though. I just did it on Vista. Maybe Max can give quick steps to get to that part of the PC's admin controls.
