| Legal Drinking Age
A person is old enough at 18 years old to go fight a war and possibly die in it. So I believe they are also old enough to drink a beer if they chose to. The legal drinking age of 21 is a type of prohibition against a select group of adults who can do anything else adults are permitted to do. Except consume alcohol. I found this article very interesting. But that is probably because it supported the view on the subject I already had. http://www.dailylush.com/archives/co...nking_age.html

well over here you can drink at the age of 18, smoke at the age of 16, have legal sex at the age of 16 and get married at the age of 16 with parental permission, so in my view you can contract cancer / have kids / get hitched but through all that, you can't drink, and you can join the army at 16 also.

wow... ya...we have enuf truble with young airman.. i think the age sould come down as well... but give the stats for DUI/DWI every year: According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2004, 16,694 people were killed in alcohol-related crashes - an average of one almost every half-hour. These deaths constituted approximately 39 percent of the 42,636 total traffic fatalities. This is a two percent decrease from 2003, when 17,105 people were killed in alcohol-related traffic crashes, representing 40 percent of the 42,884 people killed in all traffic crashes. I don't see how any one would lower the age when people can't control them selfs now and you want to drop it to 18 to add more stupid kids to the equation? HUM NO Sorry I was under age when I came in to the service and I did my fair share of drinking in the dorms. If you can't fig out how I feel about this post I'll give you a clue. My friend that was 19 at the time she died to a guy that had been out drinking....then he took his truck out on an ice road in the middle of winter. My friend on the way to the coffie shop to see friends and talk about an up coming trip. Lost her life when she was hit by the drunk driver. What pissed me off more... this was the drunk drivers 4th DWI/DUI. And you think we should drop the age. Ya, the age will come down when every one stops been a dumb shit and grows up and takes responsiblity for there actions and proventing getting people killed. |

My point was that 18-20 year olds. Not just the ones in the Military. Have every right of being an adult except being able to drink. If they are adults they should be able to. And hopefully they do drink responsibly. If not. Then they will pay the same punishment as everyone else for it.

Restrictive age leads to binge drinking as soon as people hit 21, they do not learn how to have a few beers with their friends, it turns out all or none...hence they get shit faced and do extremely stupid things like kill people, wake up with 5 guys running a train on them in a dorm room, or staring in a tittie video.

Well It Makes No Difference What The Drinking Age Is- Underage Drinking Will Always Happen, Anyone From The Age Of About 14 And Above Can Get Alcohol If They Want It- The Drinking Age In NZ Is 18 But I Could Walk Into A Liquor Store And Buy Alcohol At The Age Of 15- My Friends Used To Pay Me To Get Them Booze, Anyone Can Get Alcohol If They Want It, So The Drinking Age Is Not Important At All
