| THe passion of the christ
I saw this movie last night, it was damn good. Although some liberties were taken with the "historical" accuracy of the story, it was still a fantastic movie. (This from someone who doesn't believe in the bible) It had alot of violence, but it was, as hard as it is to believe, in good taste and couldn't have been as powerfull without. I highly recomend everyone seeing it, but don't take it as 100% accurate as to what the bible says happen, or even what evidence says happened.

Thanks for the comment on the Passion movie. Thanks because I shall be seeing it this afternoon. As someone who believes in the Bible, I shall be looking for inconsistencies. I suppose some licence is inevitable, since the film is combining four stories that differ slightly from each other (sort of like four people writing about the same incident in a police report). I am certainly looking forward to the movie but a little anxious at the same time.

I like your poster--my question about it is--When did the Texas Chain see Jesus? And you are right it is just one point--God--but even my perception of color is a little different from yours--I just hope his perception of us is the same. About the movie The Passion--I thought it was excellent. I did not see all the anti-Jewish stuff we have been let to believe is there. I think there is just a bit too much blood (they obviously didn't need a chainsaw). So far I have not anyone talk about all the incredible symbolism contained in the movie. Not one critic talked about the snake, the dead animal when Judas hanged himself or the soul that satan was holding and so on. The symbolism was really well thought out. |

Sorry about that--English is definitely not my first language--my first language is the language of the heart. "So far I have not anyone talk about all the incredible symbolism contained in the movie"--Please excuse me for the error, made first thing on a Saturday morning, when the brain is faster than the fingers. The sentence should, of course read: So far I have not heard anyone talk about [or better--refer to] all the incredible symbolism contained in the movie. I'm very new to these fora, so how does one get the quote, or partial quote to work? I used copy and paste, but there is obviously a better way. Orin. |

You have a point about the ease with which, not the Romans, but Pilate gave in. He was obviously, constantly refering to his wife. I doubt that a Roman in his position would have done that. I think his concern would have been more in terms of the possibility of a Jewish uprising, and pleasing the emperor. The real question is--how scriptural was the condemnation of Jesus portrayed? It talks about the crowd calling for his Crucifixion, it talks about them demanding Barabbas and it talks about Pilate washing his hands of the whole affair; it also talks about the beating and the insults perpetrated by the soldiers. The high-priest makes the statement that it would be better for one person to die for the people, and how right he was. If the movie is anti-semitic, then Scripture is too. Orin.
