Actually when it started out there was an underground movement of people in the roman empire that became Christian, and basically the roman leaders got tired of trying to stop them and embraced it (I know there is a whole lot more to it but that is basically what happened) When they enbraced it they made it law you had to be christian, then as they went out bringing civilisation to europe and britannia, they also brought chrisitanity, Which was ingrained in the culture. When the Roman empire fell, the church rose up and became it's own entity, they started controlling kings and queens to the point where the church was running the countries. As people came over to north america one of the things that they had to have besides an outhouse and farm, was a church.
So it basically isn't so much accepted by the christians, it is more like this is the way it has always been and stop asking questions.
Oh and it isn't most of the planet only about 32%
