In a way, i know how you feel. I went from doing food counter serving to waitressing a few years back. It was a resturant that had a pub downstairs and the restaurant upstairs, chain pub called 'Beefeater' (UK ppl shud know what it is). I found it really hard at first. You have to ask the customers in a certain order what they want, put the order into a computer and it prints out into the kitchen. But some customers are picky and make your life harder. I also had a chef that was an arsehole, but i just walked away from him, or gave him a innocent 'im a newbie' look.
Got some good tips from that job, but i wont ever go into waitressing again.
Bunnyman, you got it right there, why do customers demand and swear at you, when ur the one serving the food. I would never tamper with food, but sometimes u just have to be careful!
I think i did break down a few times while i as in that job. We used to have to carry money pouches with us, and one night, it got too heavy for me and untie-ing itself from my waist, so i hid it in a staff cupboard away from customers, so i could serve better. 10 mins later, it was gone. I started crying cuz i was so upset, thinking someone had ran off with my money, must of been nearly £100 in there in change. I ranted how im leaving the job and how the money can be taken out my wages, then a girl that worked there came to me and said 'I took it to teach you a lesson, you shouldnt take it off" I nearly punched her grrr. How was i to know, i was a newb and it was falling from my waist every time i walked. I only stayed at the job 2 months anyway. I still have the uniform from there
Enough about me, i hope you find it easier then what i did! My experience of waitressing isnt a good one.
