Exclamation Tips for making a podcast.

Here are a few tips I have, and as others come up with good tips, I'll add them to this original post
  • If you don't have a good program, try using Audacity. It free. Download it here.
  • Have fun. Don't worry about quality. That will come with practice.
  • Don't put the microphone right up on your mouth, pull it back a little to avoid the PUH-PUH sound when you talk on the mic.
  • If you choose to add sound effects to your podcast, cut them in AFTER you have talked out everything you are going to say. It sounds cleaner to cut them in than to hear you stopping and starting during your podcast. If its too hard for you now, no worries. Do it however you want.
  • Have fun. I know I already said it, but that's the best tip.
  • Ask for help if you need it. (Maximal)
  • When you're dealing with lower quality mics you don't want to put the mic directly in front of you face, talk just over it, it allows you to get closer without the pffft sounds coming through as much. Plus the overall clarity will be better. (BunnyMan)
  • This is a helpful article to read. Beginner's Guide to Podcasting
For those filling in the ID3 tags, here's an example of how it should look.
