There is no purpose. It was just "Stupid Fun" back in the day. I had just figured out how to create a submission form, mind you this was long before the use of forum software.
People typed in a question, any question, and I mean ANY. Like "How many grapes can the average 1 legged albino midget fit in their butthole?" And these questions would appear on a hidden page that nobody could see except the team of researchers.
We would then copy/paste those questions that we felt like answering into a different form and answer them and hit the submit button.
Then the original question, followed by our answer appeared on a page that was public for all to see. And everybody just totally loved it. And that was the closest thing any of us had with communicating with each other on the site for awhile. Eventually I got a really lame version of a chat program running and set it up and well, that's a whole other story. But those were some damn good days. Lots and lots of laughs. Back before everything became so instantaneous. People would submit their questions and then couldn't wait to get home from school or work to see if their questions were answered.
Just thinking how prehistoric all that was and I some how managed to make it function and spit out too look pretty. And now looking at MTW where it does almost everything on its own. Times have changed!
